Jon Gray is from a background in casting. A lifelong passion for concrete (yes, he does have a favourite motorway bridge) led to the setting up of Gray Concrete, specialists in bespoke concrete surfaces, exhibitions and interiors.
Clients include Manolo Blahnik, Paul Smith, Liverpool Museum of Slavery, Imperial War Museums, National Museum of Scotland, Museum of London, Superdry, Adidas, Stella McCartney, Glasgow Sculpture Studios, Ingleby Gallery, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Scottish Parliament, and many private commissions. Gray Concrete has now expanded into restoration, clients include Narro Associates, Galashiels Fairydean Stadium, The Basil Spence Canongate Housing Development and, work in progress, Cables Wynd House.
The Concrete Chesterfield was conceived as the response to the question “what’s the best way to demonstrate the versatility of concrete?!”
